Sunny side up

If you remember when we were more concerned about “ring around the collar” than coffee staining our teeth, and when we were told how dishwashing liquid was “kind to our hands” rather than how it could rinse the oil from ducks, then you remember when costume jewelry was in style. Oh, how I enjoyed those days, and it’s making a comeback!

I should have known if I held out long enough the gold necklaces, earrings and bracelets that cost more than my jewelry allowance for a lifetime would fade into oblivion. The cheap, gaudy pieces of jewelry that were a part of my teenage and early 20 years can once again be bought. Jewelry news can’t get much better than that for me. Too bad we no longer have dime stores in which to buy such treasures. It is true that lovely costume jewelry is being sold again but the price is not like the dime store prices that once made it possible for a teenage girl to feel dressed up and confident. The price tags on this “everything old is new again” jewelry makes me wish I had held on to mine.
