Sunny side up

When I answered my phone, I didn’t know I would be receiving the best Christmas present that any Mama could ever hope to get. The familiar, always up-beat voice on the line said, “Mama, I’ve been cleared to ring the cancer-free bell this Friday after I take my last preventive treatment.”

For a moment I was speechless. For me that is quite an unusual state of being. Dawn’s doctor had told her he felt confident that would happen, but still hearing it made it real. Really real. So real that the only words I could manage was “Praise to you, Lord and Savior!” Dawn added the “amen.”
