MSU outfielder Bryce Chance runs to first base after a hit against Hofstra at Dudy Noble Field on opening weekend.

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State baseball kept on rolling through its midweek slate with a big 19-0 win over Alcorn State at Dudy Noble Field on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs got things rolling with a sac fly by Vytas Valincius in the first inning, and Blake Bevis broke the game open with a two-out home run, his first as a Bulldog. Bevis’ three-run deep shot came on the first real connection of the day. Several offspeed pitches and throws outside or in the dirt meant that MSU hitters weren’t able to connect as usual, but the first baseman got one over the plate and sent it to the outfield lounges.
