TUPELO – Residents of Tupelo on Tuesday will determine the fate of its long-running roadway improvement project, the Major Thoroughfare Program, via a special election.

Municipal voting precincts will be open May 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Residents will be asked whether they approve an imposed 10 mill tax levy for Phase VIII of the Major Thoroughfare Program, which builds and improves roads throughout the city.
