With warmer temperatures settling in and frost season coming to an end, April is considered one of the best months for planting in North Mississippi.

Garden experts say homeowners can start adding vibrant colors with annuals such as petunias, marigolds, and begonias, which grow quickly and brighten flower beds almost immediately. For longer-lasting results, perennials like coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, and salvia are strong choices that return year after year.
