Sunny side up

The cold weather of the past few days, along with the date on the calendar, have reminded me this is “fruitcake season.” Fruitcakes seem to say “Merry Christmas” in every bite. There is no dessert better for the season than a cake that is full of nuts and dried fruit, big red and green cherries, and other candied fruit. Oh, fruitcakes are so good!

The one I’ve been enjoying the past few days is one of the best of the bought variety that I’ve ever tasted. Anna and Kennedy’s dad brought it to me when he came Thanksgiving. Since that time, I have enjoyed a slice with a good cup of coffee at least every other day.
