TUPELO — A Tupelo contractor is weighing his options after city officials denied a variance that would have allowed a house he built to break the city’s spacing ordinances.

Following a discussion with local contractor Tony Moore, the Tupelo City Council voted unanimously among present members to uphold a decision by the Tupelo Planning Committee to deny a variance for the unfinished house, with has been built too close to its property line. This leaves the builder with two options: cut off a portion of the home or purchase the adjacent property off of the neighboring lot to accommodate the correct setback.
