The Itawamba County School board at its Nov. 4 meeting recognized the Lady Mustangs who brought the 3A softball state championship home to Mantachie. On hand were coach Kristi Montgomery and several members of the softball team, as well as family members and friends.

“Sitting in front of you, this is the state champion fast-pitch softball team from Mantachie, with a record of 33-5. We have been wanting to congratulate them. We wanted the opportunity to present them and recognize them in front of our school board,” said superintendent Austin Alexander.
