Sunny side up

I received a priceless treasure in my mailbox this week. Someone I consider a very special friend, Linda Loden Cayson, sent it to me and even though she doesn’t live that far away, the idea that she was thinking of me and sent me something by “snail mail” makes it so special. She sent me a collectible. There are very few of them anymore. Can you guess what it was? It is called a handwritten letter. This day and time one’s more likely to find a pearl in an oyster than a handwritten letter in the mailbox.

Linda sent me three pages of her thoughts about a very special time when I met with her to get details for a story I was writing about her best friend forever, Wynette Pugh. Wynette is better known all over the world as Tammy Wynette, the First Lady of country music. Reading the words Linda took time to put on paper and send to me blessed me greatly. Not only can Linda write wonderful letters, but she also sings beautifully. I recall the many times I spent in churches all over the area listening to Linda and Tammy (and sometimes Imogene Patterson made it a trio) singing. There is no duo or trio in Nashville or anywhere else that can sing any better than the two (sometimes three) of them. Linda’s letter will always remind me of those days.
