President Donald Trump's Religious Liberty Commission is preparing to make recommendations after more than a year of hearings. Commissioners have spoken about their wish lists for what they want to see in the report. They reflect the perspectives of the commission's largely conservative evangelical and Catholic membership. One idea is to increase avenues for religious expression in public schools and other public settings. Another is making public money more available to religious organizations. And there's a push for allowing for religious-based exemptions from regulations and classroom lessons. The commission's chair has repeatedly said "there is no separation of church and state.”

British voters have cast ballots in local and regional elections that could determine the fate of Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Starmer's Labour Party is bracing for losses in local elections across England and for legislatures in Scotland and Wales. Results will start coming in overnight with most due by Friday afternoon. While local elections usually focus on community issues, opponents have framed this as a referendum on Starmer. His popularity has dropped due to missteps and economic struggles. Analysts suggest Labour could lose many seats, with Reform UK and the Green Party expected to gain ground. A poor result could lead to a leadership challenge against Starmer from his own party.

British voters will cast ballots in elections that could hasten the end of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s troubled term. Starmer’s Labour Party is bracing for losses in Thursday's local elections across England and votes for legislatures in Scotland and Wales. His popularity has plunged due to factors including a weak economy and his decision to appoint Peter Mandelson, a friend of Jeffrey Epstein, as ambassador to Washington. A bad result could lead to a leadership challenge. The elections highlight a shift to multiparty politics after decades of Labour and Conservative dominance, with parties like the anti-immigration Reform UK and environmentalist Green Party gaining ground.

Counterterror police are investigating an arson attack at a former London synagogue as Prime Minister Keir Starmer addresses a wave of antisemitic attacks causing fear in the Jewish community. The synagogue in Whitechapel suffered minor damage from the fire Tuesday. This incident follows the torching of ambulances owned by a Jewish charity in March and a synagogue firebombing. Last week, two Jewish men were stabbed in an act police call terrorism. Starmer emphasized the crisis affects all of society. The U.K. has raised its terror threat level to severe, citing threats from Islamist and extreme right-wing groups.

Court rulings are bolstering mandates to display the Ten Commandments in public schools in the U.S. as supporters push to expand the role of religion in classrooms. The biggest push yet to put the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom began last year in Texas, where a challenge to the law was batted down Tuesday by a U.S. appeals court. While the issue remains far from settled, the ruling was a victory for conservatives who reject arguments that the displays proselytize to students or trample the rights of parents, including families of other faiths.
