For January 2026, Pontotoc County’s unemployment rate was set at 3.5 percent, which ranked 19th lowest among Mississippi’s 82 counties, according to the Mississippi Employment Security Commission’s recently released January 2026 report.

According to the preliminary January 2026 estimates, Pontotoc County’s labor force was set at 12,229; the number of employed was set at 11,799; unemployed was estimated at 430 and the jobless rate was set at 3.5%.
